We are proud to share that s/b, the official publication of the International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities (IAKS) recently profiled the equitable aquatics ecosystem we have designed in partnership with and for the the City of Baltimore.

Championed by Baltimore City Recreation and Park (BCRP), the city is investing in the full renovation of a series of pool facilities across Baltimore. These facilities ensure no resident is more than a walk away from a pool where they can learn to swim, escape the heat and recreate.

There is clear data that public pool access is a matter of equity and socioeconomics. These new facilities will help curb that reality as they serve as safe havens for community members to cool off during our hottest days.

Each renewed aquatics space will offer multi-generational opportunities via both a lap and family recreation pool. The pool and bathhouse buildings are designed to be functional, communal, and elegant all at once. BCRP is also infusing elements like public gardens that neighborhoods can adopt and maintain over time, developing a sense of pride and ownership of these spaces.

s/b celebrates how these projects will bring extensive new aquatic resources to the urban Baltimore community, helping reset equity challenges and help people amidst a warming climate.
