We proudly have multiple projects recognized in Architizer's prestigious 2024 A+ Awards competition. The program celebrates the world's best architecture and the amazing people who bring it to life.
We were fortunate to have three projects recognized this year in the following categories:
- Unbuilt Institutional: California Institute of Technology, Resnick Sustainability Center
- Unbuilt Transportation: Hollywood Burbank Airport
- Educational Interiors: Seneca Valley School District, Ehrman Crest Elementary and Middle School
Here is a deeper look at each of the winning projects:
Resnick Sustainability Center
Essentially a makerspace for scientists, Caltech's Resnick Sustainability Center will be a dynamic hub for critical research in the most pressing climate and sustainability challenged we face.
Designed by our Yazdani Studio of CannonDesign, the building will unite experts from across physical sciences, life sciences, and engineering disciplines in shared spaces with access to unparalleled instrumentation to advance novel solutions that extend beyond any single discipline.
Hollywood Burbank Airport
Our design team collaborated with Corgan on three possible concepts for a new passenger replacement terminal at Hollywood Burbank Airport. The airport authority officially has officially selected the dynamic "Icon" concept as the direction for the new terminal.
The Icon design is reminiscent of a silver screen in a public plaza - a recognition of the film industry's roots in Burbank. It offers an elegant swooping roof canopy that gradually morphs into the facade of the airport's parking structure.
Ehrman Crest Elementary and Middle School
Our team collaborated with the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh to help Seneca Valley School District create a new K-6 school modeled after a children's museum. The school offers a learning environment that allows students to engage with educational content in ways that are most relevant and interesting to them.
Through a fluid programming structure, Ehrman Crest empowers students to embark on academic and physical journeys through a series of porous environments - a room, collaboration space, etc. - to exercise choice in truly unique ways. The result is a captivating environment that transforms historically unused features of a school's built environment into educational elements.
