We are proud to share that our work with both the Kirkland Ranch Academy of Innovation (KRAI) and the Western Michigan University's Student Center have received recognition as part of the 2024 Chicago Athenaeum International Architecture Awards program.

The International Architecture Awards honors the best, significant new buildings, landscape architecture and planning projects designed and/or built around the world annually.

Our KRAI project earned an official award while the WMU Student Center earned a spot on this year's honorable mention list. Here's more about each project.

The Kirkland Ranch Academy of Innovation is a vessel of impact for students and the local Florida economy we created in partnership with Pasco County Schools and Hepner Architects.

Focusing on Career and Technical Education (CTE), the school offers hands-on, interactive learning that teaches skills more than theory—equipping students with the competencies needed to successfully transition from high school to careers, or into college and beyond.

Showcasing strategic siting and stunning architecture, the project features various internal and external spaces engineered to foster community, collaboration and safety.

Western Michigan University Student Center

The new Student Center at Western Michigan University is a beacon of inclusion. Located on lands historically occupied by Ojibwe, Odawa and Bodewadmi nations, the building is designed to be a student-centered gathering place that champions belonging and honors the roots of Native American heritage embedded throughout the site.

Replacing the Bernhard Center, the new vibrant space is intended to serve as the hub of belonging, fostering connection, community and collaboration for all students. The three-level building features gathering and lounge spaces, a dining facility, the campus bookstore, an anticipated on-campus brewpub, the campus welcome center and retail locations. It also features a grand ballroom, conferencing spaces and a game room, while dotting collaboration zones throughout.
