Continuing education plays an integral role in the cultivation of new knowledge, ideas, and innovative solutions for our clients. Cannon Design Academy is the avenue through which we develop, share, and evaluate these continuing-education opportunities.

Strategic Education Plan

To address changes taking place in the industry and external environment, our leadership strategically identifies and develops an educational plan that meets both current and future educational needs.

Providerships

The firm builds knowledge and competencies across all disciplines. Our in-house programming is tailored to employees’ specific needs and adjusts to the changing advancements in the profession and industry. The firm is a provider of both American Institute of Architects (AIA) and Practicing Institute of Engineering (PIE) credit and maintains relationships with the Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC), Ontario Association of Architects (OAA), Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO), International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) to ensure that educational programming meets the needs of our multidisciplinary, international team.

Professional Development and Licensing Practices

Our firm supports employees’ efforts to further develop knowledge and skills for career growth at Cannon Design. We encourage the pursuit of professional registration or certification, assist with associated costs, provide mentoring in pursuing professional credentials, and reward employees’ successes.

Academy Team

Cannon Design invests generously in both human and financial resources to support educational and developmental initiatives.

The Academy team works collaboratively with all levels of leadership as well as liaisons in each office to ensure a seamless delivery of continuing education and professional development offerings for all employees throughout the firm.

Mentoring

Cannon Design’s Mentoring Program provides employees with an opportunity to strategically and continually expand their level of expertise with the assistance of an internal mentor. It contributes to the firm’s success by developing the expertise, imagination, partnership, and performance of our people.

Mentoring is defined as a one-on-one sharing of personal and professional experiences between two people who choose to interact in a trusting relationship. The Mentoring Program is voluntary and can be as informal or as formal as participants choose. All disciplines and all levels of the organization are encouraged to participate.

The Mentoring Program is also a vehicle for helping our employees achieve core competencies for professional credentialing, such as certification, registration, and licensure, as well as in developing advanced skills.
