An Ideas Based Practice

Quality

Overview

Cannon Design’s Quality Assurance (QA) Program employs a finely knit web of approaches and policies to ensure that every project meets superior standards of quality.

  • Designated Quality Leaders throughout the regional network uphold the firm’s QA policies, ensure adherence to QA best practices and document review procedures, and collaborate to improve the firm’s quality policies and processes. As part of the firm’s senior corporate management, Designated Quality Leaders are visionaries and ambassadors for the continuous improvement initiatives that distinguish Cannon Design’s culture of quality.
  • A Project Management Plan (PMP) is developed for every project, detailing project vision and goals, critical risk and success factors, team resources and commitments, and an overall delivery strategy. Continual reconfirmation and updating of the PMP ensures that project management remains congruent with overall project goals.
  • A checks-and-balances approach ensures quality of schematic design, design development, and construction document deliverables. Each project undergoes a series of project team reviews at designated milestones, as mandated in Cannon Design’s QA/QC Manual. A multidisciplinary independent peer review team performs a parallel series of quality checks throughout the course of each project.
  • Individual tracking and analysis of RFIs and change orders in the construction phase systematically measures the firm’s success in meeting QA goals. The data gleaned from this approach firmwide yields valuable guidance and lessons that are continually cycled back into the practice to hone Cannon Design’s overall QA effort.
